Overview: What appears to be a belt is an obi ita. It is a stay that is used as a foundation to keep the obi smooth and unwrinkled.
Construction: The obi ita is machine-made. The fashion fabric on the front measures 20 3/4" wide, and 5 1/2" high. It is uncentered in where the fashion fabric is placed, leaving 14 1/2" of solid fabric on one side, and 4 5/8" on the other. Overall, the obi ita is 40" wide, and 5 1/2" tall. The closure is a strip of velcro placed at the edge of the shorter section of solid fabric.
