Japanese 1950 -2000 Black Striped mens Japan [Silk organza and satin]
Overview: These hakama are undivided. In Japan they are known as andon hakama. Andon is the name for a traditional Japanese paper lantern.

Construction: The hakama were made by machine made. They have long ties that extend from the stiffened panel in the back (koshita) and a white plastic tab (koshita hera) to tuck into an obi to help hold everything in place. See supplemental pages for additional information.
Provenance: Donated to the Department of Dramatic Art by Tom Hardison who collected it when he lived in Japan in the late 20th century.
Damage: The hakama were lightly worn, if at all.
