Printable page Cream Blouse with Pink Trim

1900 -1910 Cream womans blouse [Linen]
Overview: This blouse has a blouson front and features lace insertion.
Construction: The blouse closes at center front with a pink placket which has six buttonholes and a hook and bar at the neck. There is lace insertion across the front and back yoke lines, on either side of the center front placket, and at the sleeve hem. The sailor-style collar is edged in pink fabric trim that matches the placket. This pink is also used at the sleeve hem below the lace insertion. The collar is unlined. The sleeves are one piece, lightly gathered into the armscye, and 3/4 length. The blouse body is lightly gathered on the fronts below the yoke and along the center back below the yoke. The front is notably longer than the back for blouson, and it is pleated at the front waist (with two rows of machine stitching to stay the pleats).
Provenance: There is a small size tag at the back neck which is hand written [I think] "37". Linda Foat donation, 2020-21.
Damage: Three buttons are missing; one blue button does not match the other two existing buttons. The pink placket and/or buttonholes may be a later alteration. There are stains on the underarms.
