Light Green Hanbok

Korea 1970 -2000 Light Green, White womans SE Asia [Silk Organza, Cotton, Polyester]
Overview: This light green hanbok is comprised of a jeogori (jacket), chima (long skirt), and white trousers.
Construction: This hanbok is made of light green silk organza and is comprised of a jeogori, or jacket, chima, or long skirt, and white trousers. The pieces are all machine made. The trousers have an inseam of 20 1/2" and are gathered at the waist with an elastic band. The chima is made in the traditional way. It has a high waistline where the fabric is gathered to give the skirt more volume. The skirt is gathered into a waist band that connects to a set of white straps that holds the skirt up on the wearer, rather like a contemporary jumper. The back of the skirt is open all the way down to the bottom hem. It has a self fabric bow that forms a closure. The inside of the skirt is lined with a white cotton to give the skirt more volume. The chima is embroidered with a green-on-green floral pattern. Across the bottom of the chima is a pattern of rectangular lines, following the green-on-green theme. The bottom hem of the chima measures 83" around. The chogori is made of the same light green fabric as the chima. It has a narrow white collar facing (dongjeong) that has stiffening in it to keep the shape of the collar. Along the collar is a small embroidered floral pattern that is done in a light green thread that matches the fabric of the jacket. The jacket has a small snap halfway down the front opening that keeps the jacket closed. The snap is located underneath a long self-fabric sash (goreum) that is tied into a half bow when worn. The bottoms of these sashes are embroidered in the same decorative motif as the collar. The jacket is fully lined in white silk. The sleeves have a curved bottom edge which gives it more volume before tapering back in at the bottom edge.
Damage: The back of the collar is discolored.
