Cream Petticoat with Lace Insertion

1900 -1910 Cream womans skirt [Cotton Lawn]
Overview: This cotton lawn skirt has bands of lace insertion in straight and zigzag lines.
Construction: This skirt closes at the back waist with an original hook and eye. The placket closes with two very small hooks and thread bars. The seven gores are flat into the waistband except for the two center back panels, which are gathered for about 1" around center back. At the knee there are two horizontal zigzag bands of 1" wide floral net lace insertion. Below this is a gathered lawn ruffle. At the bottom edge there are 4 horizontal insertions of the same lace strips. The waist measures 20 1/2" around when closed. The entire garment, including the lace insertions, is constructed using a chain stitch machine.
