Japanese 1950 -2000 Black, gold and cream mens Japan [Silk]
Overview: Hakama can be divided or undivided and can be worn over a kosode. In Japan they are known as umanori.

Construction: These silk hakama are made by machine. The oblong plastic tab, shown in a detail image, at center back (aka toggle) is tucked into the obi to help keep everything in place.
Provenance: Donated to the Department of Dramatic Art by Tom Hardison who collected them when he was in Japan in the late 20th century.
Damage: None; never worn. Original tags remain in place.
