Chuba

Tibet 2000 -2008 Multi-colored womans Asia [Linen, silk, and synthetic fabrics]
Overview: The chuba is accompanied by a blouse and apron. The striped apron indicates that a woman wearing it is married.
Construction: Machine made. The apron has stripes that do not match deliberately. The chuba itself is navy blue linen, the blouse is red silk brocade, and the apron is synthetic fabric.
Trim: All self materials. There are cuffs on the blouse.
Provenance: From the collection of Bobbi Owen who purchased the three pieces at a crafts fair held in connection to an appearance by the Dalai Lama at the Madison, Wisconsin Coliseum in July 2008.
