Both skirts are constructed in the same manner as the originals. The only variation is a different method of cartridge pleating, which makes the pleasts lie flat against the waistband, while still maintaining their shape as cartridge pleats. The bodice construction varied from the original in that there is a bone up the left front panel, along the center front line. This provides some stability against the pressure against the button closure. Also, the sleeves were made more narrow than the original to provide a more pleasing line. A waistband that hooks center front at the waist was added to prevent the bodice from riding up at the back of the waist.
