Two-piece Brocade Bustle Dress

1880 -1890 Shades of Green womans ensemble [Silk de Chine, Taffeta, Faille]
Overview: The elaborately beaded brocade bodice and skirt are meant to be worn over a bustle foundation.
Construction: See the Supplemental Pages for detailed information.
Trim: See the Supplemental Pages for detailed information.
Damage: The fabric throughout this garment is deteriorating. The deterioration is so extensive, it is difficult to determine the trim at the bottom of the sleeves although there are fragments of antique gold tinsel strings with hanging strands of beads such as those at center front. This ornamentation is concentrated in the faille sections of the over-sleeves. See the Supplemental Pages for detailed information.
