1886 -1890 Brown womans ensemble
Overview: The ensemble, consisting of bodice, skirt, bustle, and a hat, dates from c. 1886 - 1890. The tan bodice is decorated with brown velvet trim and beaded fringe. For additional information about the bodice, see the supplemental pages.

Provenance: Donated to the Costar Archive in the Department of Dramatic Art at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill by Helen Tibbo. It originally belonged to Mrs. Isaiah Howes who lived in Nantucket, Massachusetts. The label inside the garment reads L.P. Hollander & Co. of Boston.
Damage: The garment was lightly worn and is in exceptionally good shape.
